An Inside Look at the Pacific Northwest

Cheryl's Specialty Tours
~ Washington State Tours

Great Views!

~ This tour is loaded with Northwest Adventure. The Long Beach area has cranberry bogs, and depending on the time of year, we'll stop and see harvesting. There is plenty of time on the beach at the Pacific Ocean, with driftwood and sand. Do some rock or shell searching, watch the boats as they maneuver the mouth of the mighty Columbia river, where many a ship has sunk at the massive river exit into the ocean. Learn history about the explorers Lewis and Clark, the military presence in the area, and the fishing industry.

A small town on the ocean, Long Beach has many good restaurants and fun shopping for tee-shirts, kites, and assorted beach type items. At the sand dunes separating the town from the beach, you'll find dune grass, 31 miles or so of sandy beach and driftwood. Find seashells, rocks, and driftwood as you wander along the shoreline, listening to the pounding surf of the Pacific Ocean.

Stop at the North Head Lighthouse and explore the trail to the cliff, see seagulls, maybe sea lions and/or harbor seals. Lunch is included at a restaurant you'll help pick, once we arrive in Long Beach.

Semi private tour: It may be just you, or we may have another couple on the tour.

Mt. Saint Helens and Mt. Rainier ~

2 Days, 1 Night ~ Part of the Ring of Fire!

~ Rarely does one get to visit both of these volcanos in the same trip. Mount Rainier, one of the youngest of volcanos in Washington, is the tallest at 14,410 feet.

Mount Saint Helens, famous in our lifetime with the explosive eruption in 1980 shows a completely different aspect from the Rainier experience.

Both are outstanding symbols of wild natural forces, and both are beautiful. One mountain lush, green, glaciated and peaceful, the other barren, brown/gray, and volitle!

The Pacific Rim "Ring of Fire" includes other countries, we will explain this georaphic enigma!

~ Wide open Blue Sky Country!!

Our owner's favorite of our One-Night Tours, it really speaks Northwest Geology. Beginning in Portland or Seattle, you'll experience quite the road trip full of interesting sights and wonder why you didn't know!

After journeying to Eastern Washington, our tour really begins in Ellensburg, WA. Experience the Medicinal Waters of Soap Lake (according to ancient Native American lore) witness one of our nation's great wonders, the remnants from great Ice Age Flooding.

These Coulees are shocking when you expect the whole state to be farmland and vineyards, beef farms and fruit orchards. We visit the Dry Falls Interpretive Center to get the story of Mammoth Floods and Volcanic Sediment that created these high plains and canyons.

See how Steamboat Rock is amply named while on your way to Grand Coulee Dam, the largest hydroelectric power dam on the mighty Columbia River and huge, we might add!

The Laser Show is actually on the dam, at dark, outside, and spectacular! It's a short walk to your hotel afterward. In the morning after breakfast we tour the mighty dam, then make our way home.

Northwest Geology - Ice Age Flooding
~ One of 7 Washington State Wonders ~

12 Hours

Pacific Northwest Geology, we've got plenty of wondrous terrain! This geology tour takes you back thousands of years, about 15,000 in fact, and you'll see terrain that took a geologist nearly 20 years to prove to his colleagues; how massive flooding over several thousands of years re-shaped the Columbia Plateau. Also called the Columbia Basin, this area is labeled the Scablands, because of the scars that remain in the topography.

This tour is full of excitement as you make your way to Eastern Washington, then see the coulees themselves, formed during the flooding. We'll stop for lunch and dinner, and have plenty of rest breaks.

Check this one out!
